Ron and Kathy Assaf College of Nursing

Welcome to the Ron and Kathy Assaf College of Nursing at Nova Southeastern University.

With over 15 years of graduating compassionate and confident nurses, the Ron and Kathy Assaf College of Nursing has created a community focused on providing quality academics. Nursing is not just a science, but also an art, and takes a special person to commit to serving others through patient care. Quality nurses are celebrated by patients and families as they spend the most time at the bedside. Our remarkable faculty helps foster an environment for our students to become caring nurses who will lead and serve within our communities.

NSU’s College of Nursing offers programs from undergraduate to graduate degrees to prepare professional nurses, clinical scientists, and transformational leaders in the ever-changing health care environment. At the heart of our academic programs are our highly qualified faculty members. Our faculty members are dedicated nurses and lifelong learners who are actively involved in the nursing community. Faculty and students are encouraged and supported in producing research through interprofessional collaboration. With academic and community partnerships, our students are provided a network of resources that will extend beyond graduation. The larger NSU community also affords resources such as the state-of-the-art Center for Collaborative Research (CCR), which provides space and equipment for faculty and student researchers. These relationships and resources help our students achieve their professional goals in research and patient care.

Our Bachelor of Science in Nursing (B.S.N.) is offered as a traditional or accelerated track. We strive to prepare generalist nurses who are ready to enter the workforce and care for patients, families, and communities.

The Master of Science in Nursing can be completed in Executive Nursing Leadership, Nursing Education, Nursing Informatics, Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner, Family Nurse Practitioner, or Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. This spectrum of traditional and clinically focused tracks allows students to choose a focus that fulfills their passion for nursing. We also offer certifications for our clinical tracks for students with varied interests who wish to pursue multiple areas of professional nursing.

Terminal degrees are offered in Doctor of Nursing Practice (D.N.P.) and Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing (Ph.D.). The B.S.N. to D.N.P. provides the opportunity for continuity as the student progresses through their M.S.N. into their D.N.P. Those who already hold a D.N.P. and are interested in becoming more involved in research can enroll in our D.N.P. to Ph.D. program.

At the College of Nursing, it’s not only about academics but also about building relationships. Students, faculty, and staff participate in community events such as The Broward Heart Walk, A Day in the Life as a Nurse, St. Jude Run, and various community health screenings. Working alongside each other, lifelong connections and friendships are created.

We are proud of the community we have built to grow our students through meaningful academic programs that will support their passion for nursing. Students will be challenged to find purpose and direction within the nursing profession. Whatever path you choose, our committed staff, faculty, and leadership team are here to support and inspire you on your journey to becoming a professional nurse at any level.
