Mission Statement

The mission of the Ron and Kathy Assaf College of Nursing is to provide quality undergraduate and graduate educational programs within an atmosphere of scholarly inquiry, professional values, interprofessional collaboration, social determinants of health, and community service in preparing nurse leaders at all levels.

Vision

NSU’s College of Nursing will be nationally and internationally recognized for preparing transformational leaders in health care who are valued for excellence in nursing practice, education, and research.

Competence

Relevant knowledge, skilled, expertise, high quality, effective. Competence is having the expertise, knowledge, and skills to successfully and efficiently perform the roles of one’s profession.  

Stewardship

Advocacy, managing, taking responsibility, protecting, engaged.  Stewardship is advocating and protecting resources entrusted to one’s care.

Integrity

Ethical, consistent, fair, morally accountable, moral character, honorable, honest, consistent, admitting when wrong. Integrity is the quality of consistently adhering to a code of honesty, accountability, and being ethically moral. 

Courage

Risk-taker, acting on beliefs, speaking up, perseverance, passion, confidence.  Courage is the aptitude to uphold one’s convictions and demonstrate confidence to act in accordance with one’s beliefs with moral courage in the face of popular opposition.

Creativity

Innovative, visionary, imaginable, resourceful, transcending.  Creativity is the ability to transcend traditional ideas, patterns, and rules as well as having the capacity to construct meaningful new ideas, methods, and interpretations. 

Compassion  

Caring, empathy, helping, supporting.  Compassion is an active desire to alleviate another’s distress through caring, empathy, supporting, and helping others.
