Nursing Scholarships

Realizing Potential

The Ron and Kathy Assaf College of Nursing is committed to providing educational opportunities for those who want to enter this exciting profession and for those practicing nurses seeking to advance their careers by obtaining higher degrees. Our undergraduate programs provide the student with the ability to enter the nursing profession as a B.S.N. Our graduate programs offer nurses opportunities to pursue careers in education, health systems leadership, informatics specialized nursing careers, research, and executive roles in health care.

Financial hardship is a leading barrier to academic pursuit and success. Through the vision and generosity of a number of individuals and organizations, many deserving students at our college have benefited from scholarship support.  Without philanthropic gifts, the majority of our students would not be able to complete their education, achieve career success and begin to make contributions to the communities where they will serve. We are grateful to those individuals and organizations who have joined the Ron and Kathy Assaf College of Nursing in helping our students to realize their potential in new and innovative roles in today’s changing health care system.

  •  Be matriculated graduate students currently pursuing a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree from an accredited university in the United States.
  •  Possess U.S. citizenship as confirmed by a passport, birth certificate, naturalization certificate, or another acceptable method mentioned here.
  •  Carry a minimum overall GPA of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale.
  •  Print and complete this scholarship application form.
  •  Request that official academic transcript(s) be sent directly from their undergraduate university and/or graduate school.
  •  Attach a cover letter, resume, and two (2) professional recommendation letters from faculty advisors, supervisors, and/or clinical directors.

  • The student must be of Haitian descent.
  • The student must be already enrolled in a Nursing program.
  • The student must have a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0. An official transcript must be submitted with the scholarship application.
  • The student must submit a written essay of at least one page, describing the reasons why he or she has selected Nursing as a profession. The essay must be received no later than March 1st 2019 via e-mail info@hanaofflorida.org and mail official transcript to HANA P.O. Box 695069, Miami, Florida, 33269.
  • The student must commit to volunteer in at least 20 hours of HANA organized activities within 3 months of being awarded the scholarship.
  • The student must be interviewed by HANA’s Education Committee to determine eligibility. Interviews will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2019 at 3:00 PM at MDC North Campus 11380 NW 27th Ave. Miami, FL 33167-3495, Building 4, Cafeteria.

Healthcare Professionals Loan Repayment Program

Award Amount:

The selected recipient will receive a one-time $500 scholarship to be applied to qualified expenses including tuition, fees, books, and on-campus room and board.

Deadline:

To be considered for a Phipps & Howell scholarship, applicants must submit a short essay, 350 words or less, responding to the prompt, “Why are you interested in a career in healthcare?”

The essay must be submitted through the form below and is due by Friday, April 20, 2018. Recipients of the scholarship will be selected and notified by June 29, 2018, and financial disbursement will take place during August 2018.

Eligibility Requirements:

Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent legal residents of the United States. They must be enrolled full-time or part-time at a Florida college or university, working toward an undergraduate or graduate degree in Nursing.
