Nursing Scholarships

Realizing Potential

The Ron and Kathy Assaf College of Nursing is committed to providing educational opportunities for those who want to enter this exciting profession and for those practicing nurses seeking to advance their careers by obtaining higher degrees. Our undergraduate programs provide the student with the ability to enter the nursing profession as a B.S.N. Our graduate programs offer nurses opportunities to pursue careers in education, health systems leadership, informatics specialized nursing careers, research, and executive roles in health care.

Financial hardship is a leading barrier to academic pursuit and success. Through the vision and generosity of a number of individuals and organizations, many deserving students at our college have benefited from scholarship support.  Without philanthropic gifts, the majority of our students would not be able to complete their education, achieve career success and begin to make contributions to the communities where they will serve. We are grateful to those individuals and organizations who have joined the Ron and Kathy Assaf College of Nursing in helping our students to realize their potential in new and innovative roles in today’s changing health care system.

What are my chances of receiving a scholarship?

This depends largely on how many students apply for the scholarship. Typically, scholarships that are limited to students within the state have a better chance of winning than other scholarships, so you have a great chance of receiving a scholarship. The more applicants there are for a particular offer, the less chance you have of winning. Also, keep in mind that Phipps & Howell law firm will be giving away three scholarships.

How does experience in the nursing profession increase my chances of receiving a scholarship?

Experience in the nursing profession does not increase your chances of winning the scholarship, but it may give you great material to include in the essay portion of the scholarship.

Is my G.P.A. needed to apply for this scholarship?

No. You do not need to submit your G.P.A to apply for this scholarship.

How quickly will I be notified?

You will typically be notified within a week of the deadline, though the notification deadline may vary depending on the number of applicants.

How does Phipps & Howell choose a winner?

Each scholarship will be chosen at random by Phipps & Howell. A winner must meet all of the standard criteria required for the scholarship.

Investing in the Future of Nursing

A gift to student scholarships is one of the most rewarding opportunities that benefit not only the recipients but those whose lives they will touch. Scholarship gifts, in any amount, provide the satisfaction of knowing that your generosity is truly transformative and has long lasting implications. Please consider making an investment in opening doors for deserving nursing students who are being prepared to offer high quality health care services and to increase access to health care delivery across the state and beyond.
