Dr. Theressa Robinson Brahim received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Florida State University. She obtained a Master of Science in Human Resources and Administration and Management from St. Thomas University, a Master of Science in Nursing from Barry University, and an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner degree from Florida International University. She obtained her Doctor of Nursing Practice from the University of Miami.
Background and work experience include working as a cardiac intensive care nurse. Later working at South Florida State Hospital as a psychiatric nurse, many roles and responsibilities were assumed in many sectors such as Forensic Services, Family Intervention, and Substance Abuse Programs, Clinic Nurse, Electroconvulsive Therapy Nurse, and Nurse Educator. Employment continued at Miami Dade College as a Professor of Nursing.
She has practiced as an A.R.N.P. in Psychiatric Mental Health in private psychiatric office settings, outpatient and inpatient settings. In these settings, she provides therapeutic counseling, individual family therapy, group therapy, and medication management for clients with varies mental health issues. Her focus of interest is “Violence assessment and prevention for Children and Adolescents.” She is developing a violence prevention program to be utilized in the school system. Brahim is employed at Nova Southeastern University as an assistant professor in the Ron and Kathy Assaf Entry Level School of Nursing Program on the Miami/Kendall Campus.
