Dr. Cheng-Chang (Sam) Pan is Course Design Facilitator/Professor at Ron and Kathy Assaf College of Nursing within Nova Southeastern University (NSU). Three of his primary responsibilities are (a) acting as liaison between the college and NSU LMS Architecture unit, (b) serving as course design consultant on the college’s Executive Board and Curriculum Advisory Board, and (c) performing course production six times a year. He earned his Ph.D. in Education--Instructional Technology track and a M.A. in Educational Technology, both from University of Central Florida (UCF). He also received a M.B.A. in Business Administration from Texas A&M University-Commerce.  

The former professor of Educational Technology at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV), previously The University of Texas at Brownsville (UTB), taught online graduate courses in Instructional Design, Multimedia/Hypermedia, Theory and Practice of E-Learning, and Practicum in Educational Technology. During his tenure at UTRGV and UTB, Dr. Pan served on committees at the department, college, and university levels in curriculum, faculty and staff search, program evaluation, and personnel (including tenure and promotion), among others. He was honored to be appointed as (UTB) Provost Fellow for Distance Education in 2012. He is twice a recipient of both UTB Faculty Competitive Merit Award and AECT International Division Distinguished Service Award. Besides, the graduate faculty developed and directed the university’s first E-Learning Certificate program that is endorsed by the Association for Educational Communications and Technology (AECT) Certificate Endorsement Program (CEP). He also briefly taught undergraduate face-to-face technology integration classes at UCF and UTB.  

Dr. Pan was an external (course) peer reviewer for Quality Matters and served as a (certificate program) reviewer of AECT CEP. He holds Project Management Professional (PMP®) credentials and is certified by EXIN in Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL®) V3 Foundation. He was also awarded the UCF Instructional/Educational Technology graduate certificate. The professor’s research interests include E-Learning design/development and management and predictive analytics in support of human performance. Individually and collaboratively, he has published over 50 journal articles, book chapter, and conference proceedings, given more than 50 national and international conference presentations, and participated in four grant projects as either a co-principal investigator or an external evaluator.
