Dr. Sally Spooner received her B.S.N. from Florida State University, her M.S.N. from the University of Pheonix with a concentration in nursing education and her D.H.Sc. with a concentration in Allied Health Education from Nova Southeastern University.
Dr. Spooner was a critical care nurse for the Department of Veterans Affairs, now known as the Veterans Health Administration, until retirement from federal service. She worked at the Bay Pines VA Medical Center in St. Petersburg, Florida in MICU, CCU, the cardiac catheterization lab and had cross training for all the ICU’s, the GI invasive lab, and other areas within the medical center that required specialized nursing. She worked with the Chief of Pulmonary Medicine and opened the Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program and then turned the program over to the Respiratory Therapy Department. Dr. Spooner worked as the Relief Nurse Manager in the ICU on weekends and was trained as the Patient Care Coordinator for the hospital for off tours and weekends.
Dr. Spooner began as an adjunct professor at NSU in 2005 in the RN to BSN online program. She became a full-time faculty member at the Orlando SEC in 2008 in the RN to BSN/MSN program and currently works on the Fort Myers campus. She holds the rank of associate professor.
