Dr. Stefanie La Manna is the Dean and an Associate Professor. Dr. La Manna received her undergraduate degree from Barry University as well as her master’s in science in nursing, with a concentration as a family nurse practitioner, and a Ph.D. in Nursing from Barry University. She completed a post-masters as a gerontology adult acute care nurse practitioner from the University of Pennsylvania. She is dually certified as a family nurse practitioner and an adult gerontology acute care nurse practitioner. Dr. La Manna also holds a master’s degree in public health with a concentration in epidemiology.

In addition, Dr. La Manna has 23 years of experience as an advanced practice registered nurse and actively practices in internal medicine and infectious diseases. Dr. La Manna is active in the National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculty and serves as the chair of the faculty and preceptor resource committee. She serves on the board as a Nominating Committee with the South Florida of Advanced Practice Nurses, and she serves on the board as the treasurer with the Nurse Practitioner Council of Palm Beach.

Dr. La Manna’s research interests are infectious diseases including HIV, HIV PrEP, antibiotic resistance, sepsis, and the importance of immunizations throughout the life span. In Addition, Dr. La Manna has a high emphasis on appropriately training future nurse practitioners on Telehealth/Telemedicine for health care delivery and continues to be engaged in a multi-year two-phase study incorporating innovative technologies integrated with standardized patients in controlled clinical scenarios.

She has authored chapters in the Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Q&A Review 1st and 2nd editions. She was involved in developing the American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN’s) COVID-19 Pulmonary and Ventilator Care Micro-Credential, launched in September 2020.

She has received multiple local, regional, and national awards for her contributions to the profession of nursing and has presented nationally and internationally on various academic and clinical topics. Dr. La Manna’s most recent recognition was in the Sun Sentinel 2022 Nurse Honoree “Sun Sentinel Celebrating Nurses.”
